ARIZONA SUNSET Recipes

Have I ever told y’all how much I love living in Arizona?! I mean I really LOVE it here! We have lived here for almost a full year – and to tell y’all the truth, it has taken some getting used to, but I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else!

Last summer was brutally hot (this is Arizona – and we do live in the middle of a desert after all – I hear it’s brutally hot EVERY summer ha!) – but there is very little humidity here. Thank the Lord! We learned pretty early to plan our day a little more wisely – to do what we needed to do in the morning or after dinner …. and to avoid the mid-day! LOL. Being a family full of redheads – that sun is a killer on the skin!

Some of my favorite things about Arizona are the mountains (they’re all around us – they call Phoenix “the valley” for a reason!), the almost perfect weather year round and the sunsets are unbelievable! It’s almost as if God paints the sky a new portrait for our viewing pleasure every night! Those awesome sunsets were the inspiration for this easy drink …. by the way, you don’t have to be an Arizonian … or a “Zonie” (that’s what my SoCal husband calls Arizonians?!) to enjoy this drink!

Arizona Sunset
Yield: 2 drinks

• Ice
• Grenadine
• 1 cup Sprite soft drink
• 1 cup orange juice
• Maraschino cherries or orange slices, for garnish (optional)

1. Place ice in 2 glasses. Add a splash of Grenadine to each glass. In a small pitcher or other container, stir the Sprite and orange juice together. Slowly pour over the Grenadine, dividing the mixture between the two glasses. Garnish with cherries or orange slices, if desired.
